Has Mesut Ozil justified his Wages?

After Arsenal’s game against Newcastle and Mesut Ozil finally playing away at Newcastle for the first time despite over 200 apperances for the north London club it got me thinking is Ozil worth the reported £350k a week arsenal forked out to keep him?

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil is considered by some as one of the World’s Best playmakers and received a hefty pay rise with his new deal he signed in January which is reported to net him £350k a week , since Mesut Ozil arrived in the 2013/14 season he has not once hit double figures for goals despite playing 5 seasons at the north London club and playing high up the pitch in advanced positions.

Mesut Ozil has always been deemed a luxury player but only shows flashes of that luxury and has never been consistently brilliant throughout a whole season.

He has been dropped a few times this season by Unai Emery already which has lead to some rumours in the press that his work rate isn’t up to scratch, he has never really been the one to turn up in the big games and drag his team to victory he tends to go missing against the big teams and only performs against the lesser teams so to speak, for 350k a week he clearly needs to be dragging his team to winning against the big boys domestically and in Europe and not just turn up against bottom half teams.

It’s also worth noting in his time in north London Ozil has not come close to An elite trophy such as the PL or champions leauge despite him being deemed as a world class talent , Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah dragged his team through many games last season and even helped his team reach the champions leauge final , Other players who’ve dragged their teams to champions league finals and PL titles include RVP , Luis Suarez , and Steven Gerrard who sparked that amazing comeback against AC Milan in the champions leauge final to mention a few, is this not something Mesut Ozil should be doing?

When arsenal are in need of a spark Mesut Ozil seem’s to go into hiding.

I’ll use this thread to update game by game his performance via goals , assists and minutes played.

I’d like your opinions on whether he was worth the 350k a week the gunners tied him down to.

Nah. I mean, it's not Sanchez on £500k a week bad, but still, nah.

Why are you only mentioning his goals record and not his assists- he's a creator not a finisher. Keep it objective please.

Anyway, this will be funny to see how much Ozil outperforms Sanchez despite being on significantly less wages. Shall we start from last weekend when Ozil scored the winner in the game?

    Games Played: Newcastle United (away)
    Goals: 1 (the winning goal)
    Assists: 0
    Result: 2-1 win

Had the second highest rating on whoscored.

Has he justified his wages? Yes

It's taken him one game and he's already justified his wages more times than Alexis has since his move to United :D

Where did he say anything anti Turkish?

Someone posted recently about how Ozil created more than Silva over the past 3 years despite the latter playing in more games. Whoever you Are, if you're reading this, post it again please.

It's just funny seeing how all the United fans got pissed after the creation of the Alexis Sanchez thread, then they eventually realised Rhodesia was right and they were completely wrong the whole time. Now this is their way of getting "revenge"- so childish. They cannot accept defeat :D

    It's literally one United fan.

A small percentage of the United fans on here = all the United fans? Interesting logic.

  • No.

Ozil is the cherry on the top, he can complete a world class side. Surround him with world class players and he’ll be a wizard. What he did at times with Madrid was incredible.

Arsenal do not have this and he is a luxury that the club cannot afford . Squad is not good enough to carry or make up for what he doesn’t offer.
