98 Icon Pele in a single players pack in WC mode after losing (luckiest pack of all time?!)

So I was playing my final group game in WC mode, after losing the first two. Can't progress anyway, so I just put in some random players I never played with before and gave it a go. Was 2-1 up until the 83th minute against a much better side, then he decides to bring on three 90+ pace players and just outrun (track & field FIFA) my fairly slow and tired defenders. Ended up losing 4-2, was pretty pissed off and just quickly opened my single players pack and wanted to move on.

I even skipped the pack because I thought it was a thin pack yet again and only seen the blue flare after skipping.


I would like to know how much the probability in percent this is to happen. A 98 rated card, the highest in the game, in a single players pack. After losing nonetheless. This is like a CR7 in a gold pack in normal FUT I think.

Sounds like the game realises how bad you are at the game and threw you a life line lol... The standard of player in the group stages is pretty poor, shouldn't be losing 3 games on the bounce!

I'm average in FIFA 18. Win about 60% of my games online. Won division 1 and got to 19 wins the only time I ever played the WL. Used to be much better in FIFA 12-15. And I don't think you're supposed to always get bad opponents in the first round. Most of the players I'm playing have a club estimated between 2011-2014. So no newbies there.


Pele's great btw. Better dribbling than Messi who I happen to get in my starter team. And I love that I'm now able to make an European/South American 'hybrid' quite easily with him giving the links.

And sure it's 'only the WC mode'. I get that. But I would never able to afford him in regular FUT. Even for his loan I did find it to expensive to do the SBC.
