Should World Cup qualification be changed from the confederation format?

Got me thinking with the likes of Panama, Australia, Peru, Saudi etc qualifying.

Panama were god awful at full strength against a Wales B side and got a last minute equaliser and then tonight they’ve been pumped 6-0 from a let’s be honest average Swiss side (they’re solid but by no means world beaters)

Would like to see other people’s thoughts on the matter.

Peru? Don’t they qualify against Brazil Argentina etc? And the current system is designed in a way that the more profilic continents get more spots whilst reducing the air miles being clocked up. Would be crazy to play a home game in England and an away game in Australia in a 3/4 day turnaround

Granted Peru played very well in qualifying, in what is probably the second strongest confederation.

Nah, the world cup is there to see other fans and other cultures. What would be the point of having the world cup as a EUROs with like 3 other teams?

They are expanding the 2026 wc to something like 48 teams right? It's fine the way it is. These are just friendlies.

    Germany 7 Brazil 1

Can happen in any game if a team don’t turn up.

Wales have been higher than that. It’s a poor system, but I didn’t mind it when Wales were 8th haha
