Somehow I feel like Germany was expected.

Will be a good game at the least, fairly even odds I'd say. Both teams have weaknesses

What is the best formation to counteract Germany's 3-4-3?

Crazy how imbalanced that bracket is. The one side is stacked

Either match it or play attacking to press Germany’s defence.

I think they’ll beat us comfortably if we play that awful 4-2-3-1 that’s somewhere in the middle.

What a huge opportunity for Southgate though. I don’t know a single England fan who believes in him, but if he can beat Germany then everyone will shut up.

    its basically just Spain's fault
if they had won their group and swapped with Sweden youd have 4 of most peoples top 8 teams on each side
and of course if Eriksen was fit to play that would make Denmark much more of a threat

I know most wanted us to go with a back 4, but doesn't a back 3/5 just suit us better?

    Walker-Stones-Maguire
    James-Henderson-Rice-Shaw
    Sterling Grealish
    Kane

Obviously the wingbacks would have to be allowed to bomb forward for it to work, and Sterling and Grealish to get around and support Kane. But It surely can't be any worse than this 4231 we've seen so far.

i wouldnt lose all hope on the 4231 just yet, almost all our best moments in this tournament have been from getting in behind or fast flowing counters
its just we have played 3 teams that havent attacked us
not sure how playing 5 defenders and 2 CDMs would make it any better haha
Think Saka would be my first name on the team sheet for the next game, he can cover Gosens and get after that back 3 on the counter too

I wanted the 4231 before the tournament started but since Southgate doesn't pick the players that he should do, just ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it - play a 5atb and get a scrappy 1:0 win idc

Tbh I just want us to play 3atb against Germany, then go back to the 4atb

3atb to stop Kimmich and Gosens sounds reasonable anyway

Germany play wide open they look very susceptible to counter attacks. Even though we have defended well I dont think we've been properly tested yet. Low recently is as bad as southgate so i dont see either varying their tactics. We have a chance but they should be favourites.

Gareth HAS to show he can beat a decent team in a tournament, he failed with Belgium twice and Croatia at the time and next it's Germany

I wouldn’t of given him another contract unless he won’t the whole thing even then I’d probably not😂

They want him because he's a yes man, but I do think he has the decency to walk if it's not going well

Hope is that it seems to be the daily mail. Wait until Ornstein or someone reputable reports on it.

It certainly wouldn't be surprising though knowing Southgate.

Absolute must-win game on Tuesday, even if it's only to stop Germany from lucking through this half of the bracket.

Beat Germany and we only have to beat Sweden/Ukraine/Czech/Denmark to get to the final. Such a lucky bracket
