So just put on some Fifa points for the ultimate pack BOGOF which got me to thinking how much I’ve actually spent on the game this year ... did some back tracking with my email account and it turns out that takes me to just short of £400.

I’m actually quite ashamed of this and it’s probably the big reason I won’t be buying Fifa next year ... I’m 31 years old and a casual gamer at best - played fifa since way back in the 90’s and must admit my first love was PES (which I’m considering going back to next time round) and the game has just drawn me in this year. I do particularly enjoy it, squad battles seem much harder than they were I’m sat in division 7 and only qualified for the WL once when I had a 81 rated team. I now have a EPL 85 rated team (mostly untradable from SBC’s etc) and wish I had my £400 back in my account. It’s scary to think that children probably do this without even realising the actual cost.

I’ve opened 5/6 times more packs than I ever have this year and my best pull coin wise was Kante. Everything else half decent has been untradable however I still go in search of that one big pull. I have a friend who hasn’t spent a penny and packed Ronaldo from the hybrid nations. I have another friend on Facebook who packed Messi twice last month. I know it’s all luck but please lads keep track of what you’re spending on something that will be inept in a couple of months.

It’s easy to trade, so much so, I’m opening packs with coins and documenting it on this forum for the fun of it.

I get your point, but if you consider yourself casual, you wouldn’t spend extra money on this game.

Alot of us are right there with you. For me, its entertainment value I'd have spent elsewhere on something else with no return. LIke buying drinks at a bar, wasting it at the casino. . .its not money that I'm just "wasting" because for me I get plenty of fun, and frustration, from this game.

So, when I say, meh I'll throw a 20 on, its really me saying. . well I could go waste money on something else that has no value in my life, or do this. . .and I usually choose FIFA, sadly.

Exactly, if I’m not buying points with the extra income, I’ll buy something else just as useless.

Totally get that - and in my head that’s how I justify it too comparing it to nights out etc ... that’s the reason I put some on tonight as I’ve stayed in this weekend it just shocked me to add it up.

I have had some enjoyment this year however i feel the scales tip far too much towards frustration ... take me back to the days of PES when you could score a 50 yard screamer with Roberto Larcos.

Yeah man it's a sad state of affairs that this game is just a cash grab at the end of the day. Packs are awful value for money.

I put a parental lock on mine just to make the process to buy more tedious as it's to easy to just say F it and load up points. Least with a lock on it's a reminder to say no don't bother.

Master League was so good tbf, I’d be half tempted to give PES a go this year, not instead of Fifa but alongside.

I meant causal as in an average player at best ... I’ve dedicated more hours to this Fifa than any in the past!

Inter Milan with Adriano and Martins upfront. Best video game partnership ever.

Must admit watching the David Beckham legend trailer did tempt me but I’ll hold out for next year. Masters League was Ultimate Team but you were rewarded for your time not how much money you threw at the game.

PES’s first version of virtual pro was awesome too wasted many an hour playing that.

Pes is how I got this nickname, knowlesdinho! We used to play cups for hours, about 10 of us and my mate used to jump up when he scored and say “sugdinho”. We ended up in the final once and I scored in ET and jumped up screaming “knowlesdinho” since those days we have both been known as our respective pes names!

Can’t understand why anyone needs to spend that much in packs, trading is so easy nowadays and the regular rotation of packs through SBC’s keeps my craving satisfied. Good on you admitting to your mistake though mate

Problem is I didn’t even realise it had got to that - it’s scary to think what other people especially kids may rack up unknowingly. The part of this Fifa I enjoyed the most was December selling 83/84’s and doing the FUTMAS SBC’s - VVD and Lingard still make my squad today.

Amazing. I remember playing my mate and we were drawing 4-4 coming into the last minute of extra time and Shaun Wright-Phillips scored a 40 yard bullet into the top corner I went mental!

Sheva as the GOAT for it.

Anyone remember Roberto Carlos freekick on FIFA 2001? Mash every button and it flew in like a rockey from anywhere on the pitch

Don't think I will this time tbh

18 is the only year I've spent a decent amount

Generally wouldn't mind if I enjoyed the game, had to remove my card and everything now its wayy too addicting and even easier to spend 100's without even knowing

I post the same a while back but my total was £350 and i have not spent a penny since. I have how ever packed cr7 shortly after. Also pes was amazing and i still use pes conteols for fifa in the hope i can someday return.
  • you cant justify spending a huge amount on a game - its just ridiculous - the more you put in the weaker the packs.. your gambling for the sake of it ... i wish everyone would just stop then you would see pack weights increase but whilst all the idiots spend then they cant complain
