OT: Astro A50 Headset

Long story short, my infant nephew got a hold of my Turtle Beach 800X, and threw them downstairs when my sister was over and now they’re in two pieces.

Shopping for a new headset, I stumbled upon the A50’s that work for the Xbox and PC which would work amazingly for me. However, I’m not familiar with the Astro brand. Anyone have good reviews or experience with these before I chuck 300 for them?

TL;DR - Are these any good for the price?

No expert but I believe there's a few different A50 generations that perform differently

Have you had any issues with them? How are they comfort wise? The 800X weren’t comfortable at all, so anything is an upgrade in that department but I’m curious lol.

Was just looking at those, and they have great reviews and 1/3 of the price. Have any gripes or issues with them at all?

That’s really good to hear. Was ready to switch anyways, my nephew just gave me the push (or throw) that I needed :/

No complaints as of yet, quite comfortable as well. Comes with leather and memory foam ear pads. Really well built. Was a nice upgrade from the standard issue

I'm fully on the hyper x train now. Super comfortable, durable and quite cheap in comparison. Will never go back to turtle beach

Astro has really never been that great in terms of audio quality. I’ve used them since their creation in 2005/06 and currently have a50s. They aren’t that comfortable and the battery life on them is very average.

Would much rather spend money on Hyper X or Sennheiser. The Astro mix amp is still second to none.

    Wouldn’t recommend the a50 headset.

Hyper x cloud X is the one I have. Was $100 and couldn't be more satisfied. The audio dongle is the only complaint but it's not a huge deal. The ear cushions are super comfortable no matter how long you use them, the steel frame that holds everything together is excellent and it has a braided cord so you don't have to worry about the wire getting dinged and malfunctioning the entire thing
