First of all, him winning the YouTube votes means nothing other than a bunch of streamers like to use him in a video game. The reality is, he is not even close to the best RB in the game in real life. Carvajal and Alves are both better. Lastly, I don’t know where you have been but EA could care less about any backlash from the community as they routinely make terrible decisions that the community rages over and make no changes about it.

If that was the logic then Ronaldo and Messi wouldn’t even make it as much more people play with Jesus, Martial, and Mbappe. It’s the TOTY in real life. Not TOTY for FIFA WL
Some have done it themselves but a few have let their subs vote, One of the spanish youtubers who let their subs vote has players like Isco in his team so it's just a mess

Most the youtubers done straw polls, had their subscribers vote. Yes EA have made some strange decisions with regards to TOTW over the years, but they don't ask for community feedback.
This is different, they've reached out to the community, asked for our opinion. Going against the community now will just lead to more negative publicity, with the amount of bad press they've got over the last few months. This is the last thing they need. Valencia won and......
Because there are actually more deserving players to choose from, when you put real life performances on line.
The problem with this new TOTY selection for me is that players like say Kroos will now be left out because he isn't "useful" in this game despite being one of the best midfielders IRL.

People have Isco in their midfield how can you say this TOTY is being taken serious
IKR, there is reason why Kroos doesn't get informs and that is because he absolutely obeys the instructions he is given, and does wonderful job at the role he is commanded, which is more defensive that he probably would not like, being as talented in the offense as he is.
You can try to find who Real Madrid players tell is the most important player. Same goes to Germany national team.
Take away Valencia, Kante, KDB or even Modric and put Kroos in!!!
I don't pretend to know loads about continental football but it seems a bit unlikely that the best right back in the world last year played for a team that struggled in their domestic league and didn't perform well in the world's premier club completion.
