Hello everyone - I have done something like this in the past but did not have a place to share the experience with so things kind of became stale. But since this is such an active place, I'd thought I'd give it another go and if people enjoy it and it goes well that would be great.
What do I do?
I play every game in the Premier League, controlling each team. This does not mean I control each game as sometimes I am busy so I'll put a game on, set the tactics and formations and have the CPU play each other. I even enjoy watching the games sometimes.
Why do I do it?
A few reasons really but the main one is that I lose attention and focus if I play as the same team over and over in a career. I like playing realistic style with realistic lineups. I get bored after a year or two in a career mode but have found playing this very fun.
Stat keeping
I'm also really big on stats, one big area FIFA lack in. Playing each game allows me to keep the stats of categories I want. I keep tracking of goals, assists, cards, dribbles, crosses, passing, shots, shots on target, pass%, shot%, saves, shots faced, tackles and clean sheets. Along with team stats and how goals are scored (open play, set pieces, penalties)
How I post
This might change depending on the attention this receives. I will start simple posting a week preview, scores and video highlight of the match of the week. But I also like to create stories and transfer drama so those will be posted too.
How can it be more fun?
With help from people here. I don't expect people to play games or post anything special but when reading if you want to post a comment giving tactic, formation or lineup ideas. Or transfers ideas I'd love to hear it.
Now to begin..

Manchester City v Liverpool
The game of the week, Monday night Manchester City take on Klopp’s high attacking Liverpool. Liverpool added VVD, Keita and Lemar while only losing Couthino. Can they overtake Man City this season?
Maybe, the regulars in this forum should be instructors for you on how to deal with a team. Say, I'm taking Arsenal under my wings and I instruct you to find me a defender below 15m, or that you must attempt to buy player x, but I order you not to exceed a certain price. Or if you do agree with a club, to not offer him any status higher than rotation-player. I usually put these limitations on myself and it keeps a CM fun and exciting. Maybe it would contribute to this one.
It does sound a little complex but it's pretty easy once the games start. I made it to week 24 in the past but then my daughter was born and since I was doing it without sharing the results I didn't pick it up again.
I play each game in Kickoff since you can't control more than 1 team in a career and playing a season doesn't allow transfers. But it would be fun if people took teams and negotiated trades between each other.
Key game notes
West Ham United v Huddersfield Town
The season kicked off with a match that looked like it would end in a goalless draw until West Ham made a vital mistake turning the ball over in their own half in the 89', Mooy finished a minute later to give Huddersfield the 3pts and the seasons first victory.
Brighton v West Bromwich Albion
West Brom earned a penalty to go up 1-0 with all the momentum until Hemed scored a goal right before half and added another late in the 2nd half to give Brighton the 2-1 victory.
Leicester City v Chelsea
Things went downhill for Leicester right away as Okazaki was sent off with a red card in the first 20 minutes with Leicester already down 2-0 thanks to Morata's 2 goals in the first 10 minutes. The Foxes fought back to make it 3-1 at the half. Both sides would add a goal in the second half to make it 4-2 before Leicester scored on the last kick of the match to make the scoreline more flattering for them.
Manchester City v Liverpool
The Match of the Week.
A lot of expected results to start off the season. What a match between City and Liverpool...surely Match of the week, if not match of the season already. Just in real life two high scoring attacks but lacking in defense at the same time
As of now I'm putting my Spurs career on hold to see how this plays out. I like creating story lines for teams which is hard to do in CM. City and Liverpool was a great match and is going to be hard to top for match of the season.
Liverpool let down by their defense again..
Of course it would be really funny to control one of these teams, negotiate transfers and all that, but extremely hard to implement as you would need to set up bugets, people should be consistent snd all that. Very very difficult... once I did it with some friends in a certain forum, a kind of Fantasy League and sometimes it got hard to control as people get truly competitive.
Good luck in this innovative idea!
Thank you! Yes, at times I make the subs and watch. Setting quick subs before the match is very helpful at times. I also play a lot of the games, sometimes switching sides at half time to make the game very challenging.
I think it would be difficult adding in budgets and what not for people and I don't think people would care that much about following it along. But if someone wanted to take a team and suggest a swap with a player from another team that could be an idea. Take the money out and only swap players.
haha (I think..) I am actually pretty lucky to have a "boring" desk job that gives me an hour or so free at the end of each day where I update my spreadsheet with stats so when I'm home I can just enjoy playing the game.
I'm really excited to play with Liverpool with Lemar, Sane and Salah. Playing with Liverpool feels so much different than playing with other teams, the players feel lighter as if they move quicker. That could also be because I try playing like Liverpool and sprint around like crazy all over the pitch..
Key Headlines
Crystal Palace v West Ham United
Two London clubs kickoff the weekend as West Ham try bouncing back after a late goal cost them last week. Crystal Palace are looking to keep momentum going following their 3-0 victory. Zaha is expected to start though rumors of his departure are increasing.
AFC Bournemouth v Chelsea
It doesn't get any easier for Eddie Howe's side as the Cherries lost to Arsenal last week and now face Chelsea. Jermaine Defoe is up for the challenge "Facing the top clubs is what every player dreams of. We were close to breaking through last week but things didn't go our way, I have confidence in the squad this week."
Liverpool v Huddersfield Town
Liverpool lost a thriller on Monday night to Manchester City while Huddersfield were on the other end of their own late dramatics. Jordan Henderson is not expected to start after being subbed off early last week following a poor first half. Expect Lemar to make his first start for Klopp's side.
Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur
Monday night looks to be another great matchup as both sides are coming off wins by 3 goals. Spurs have lost the last 4 matches at Old Trafford being held scoreless in all 4. José Mourinho is up to his usual mind games as he called Pochettino's side "A small fish in a very big pond"
And this senile Mourinho with his usual "blah blah", being a parody of himself. Embarrassing person.
Matchday 3 Preview
Chelsea v Everton
Alvaro Morata had a hat-trick in the first match of the season but was held to only 1 shot against Bournemouth last week. Cesc Fabregas is back from injury for Chelsea as they play their first home match of the year.
Bournemouth v Man City
The tough start to the season just keeps going for Bournemouth. Having already played Arsenal (1-0 defeat) and Chelsea (1-1 draw) they now have to face Man City who are undefeated this season and are fresh off a 3-1 victory where Aguero had a first half hat-trick.
Liverpool v Arsenal
The Monday night match is two teams going opposite directions as Liverpool are looking to contend for the title this season as Arsenal are looking to finish top 4. Alexis Sanchez will not be available for Arsenal as transfer talks continue with multiple teams.
Verratti to Arsenal to replace Ozil......
Lemar to Liverpool
Heaton to Liverpool
De Vrij to Liverpool
Varane to Chelsea
Want more?
Lemar is on Liverpool already, I bought him at the start of the season once Coutihno was gone. Heaton to Liverpool is a good idea also if Burnley are struggling and looking to sell.
Check CEIS football. It isn't as deep as Transfermarkt but much more realistic.
I will think about possible ideas.
thanks! I'll check out the site.
No new ones since the Lamar transfer. Like most people on this forum, FIFA has kind of taken a backseat for me lately. I made the mistake of buying a Switch and now I'm hooking on Zelda.
I'm going to play my Spurs career for the rest of FIFA 18, I am very excited to play a full PL full control season but I need to start it earlier and not make the mistake of starting it in January when the season is half over.
It's really noticeable how everything is becoming more silent here at the moment..
Starts something then gives up before it even gets going! Hope that aint the motto for your life
