Problems with xbox console

Hopefully someone here can help

My xbox controllers won't connect, whether wired or wirelessly they just sit there and flash without connecting to the console

Sometimes they'll connect for 10 seconds or so but then it drops again

Tried power cycling, different pads (literally 5 I've tried) and different cables to no avail

Anyone experienced this issue and/or know how to fix it?

Yep, just flashes then goes back to the standard searching flash after 30 seconds or whatever it is

Done, managed to get 2 to connect long enough to get into settings, no updates available

And USB causes the same issue, won't cinnect consistently

Weird. Might be the IR sensor on the console if you've tried loads of different controllers?

I presume you are pressing sync on the console too?

    Fs

Was thinking more the controller interface on the chip set, both mean a new console though, I'm way out of warentee

    You changed the batteries?

I know these sound obvious but best to rule them out.

Had this issue the other day. Hard power cycle the Xbox, switched batteries on the controller and it sorted itself for me

Yep, it happened originally whej my primarily pads battery died and I was rushing to get some fresh ones(losing a match in the process)

Got 3 fully charged packs sitting here

Weird. When you said power cycle do you mean holding the power button until the power pack goes white?

Did that and pulled the power itself the second time, gonna try again though if it worked for @FUTAbell

Only other thing I can think is factory resetting it and going through setup again

@DoD_Jester hard reset and disconnect the power cord for 60 seconds re connect power cable and reboot

I'd try to avoid factory reset just for the time being.

I'd power cycle whilst using USB so it picks it up.

USB doesn't even light up now when plugged in

    However

Just did another sync and it's picked up my main cintroller finally wirelessly, been on for a good minute or 2 now so hopefully that aspect at least is fixed

Ain't half, I think the wireless issue might have been caused by crap battery packs tbf, used 2 of the same brand and nothing, used one of another and that's when it worked, maybe the rubbish ones aren't giving a strong enough signal?

    USB I've no clue though

Try Xbox support might need to send it in.

Before you try Xbox support I would unplug all wires and the plug from the power brick, this resets the power brick and is a common fix for a lot of problems.

    Worth a try imo.

If you do have to send it in tell them you want Xbox live credited to your account. Usually you can get a free month if you miss a week or two of playing time.

I'm assuming I'd he charged for any fixes at this point though? Consoles 3 years old

Suppose it depends on the return or fix policy. I sent back my 360 a bunch of times with the red rings. PS4 controllers I sent back because of the rubber but all of those were recall problems. It’s worth checking on if nothing else fixes it.
