Iv wanted curran to play every test glad he has done well hes a genuine match winner and even if he bowls badly the left hand variety is worth having imo.

Think going forward I would rotate Broad, Anderson and Archer (at least for home series) only playing 2 of them at once
Than you can have Stokes and Curran, and Woakes can come in for the odd test where you rest one of those two
Leach seems to be cementing his place a little bit now, although we really could do with him getting some runs second innings on a turning pitch

    Curran will be like woakes

Brilliant at home but on flat decks cannon fodder

At 21 years old certainly someone who is worth investing time in

The selection of overton just looks worse and worse

Is this a opening partnership for the future, given our troubles finding openers have these two done enough to be given more time? Think Burns definitely does it’s more Denly that’s the maybe, but given how woeful our openers have been for a while can we afford to be picky?

At least they are batting like openers.

    Denly too old
Can’t be giving a bloke who is almost 34 time, especially as he has averaged sub 30 this series, it’s not like he has been prolific

Taking it to Lyon! There’s not a more satisfying sight in cricket 😂

Agree completely i like Denly but think we need to be building a team for the future Denly wont have that many years in him as one of the main focuses has to be winning in australia thats what the plan should be.

Burns definitely has to stay and has cemented his place for a while. Averaging 39 in this series against that Australian attack is a good effort.

Burns - Sibley should be the opening partnership.

Decent session overall one more like that and were in a great position.

Lyon got 2 wickets off of nothing deliveries, so frustrating

For the first time all summer we are seemingly slowly moving in to a very comfortable position

Think I would take Denly to New Zealand and South Africa so that we have an experienced player to come in for a potential injury to Root/Burns/Stokes so that we don’t have too much inexperience

Denly wont be dropped after this knock

    Nor should he be

    Bairstow gone cheaply again

Good knock from Denly, gutted for him that he couldn't get his century!

    Crucial runs these
Even as a pessimist and accounting for Smith surely with a lead of 420 we would be safe

surely we should have enough would like a couple out early with the first spell of new ball bowling though.

Any other series I would say we have enough
But I don’t trust Smith not to get 180, so that only leaves the others needing about 200 potentially
Great chance for Leach to take like 5-66 though and really secure his spot
