Having a debate right now. While neither necessarily mean nothing bad, I just believe there’s a difference between goal scorer and a finisher. Curious to think of what others think.

OT: Romelu Lukaku a better goal scorer or finisher? 87 votes
i'd like to see how he does v the big team because his record v them so far is awful. United fan and i'm not completely sold on him yet great start tho when i've watched him he looks very clumsy on the ball

He has a better record against “top teams” than Kane.
Not convinced he's a clinical finisher (he does seem to miss some easy chances), but he is able to create something out of nothing and his positioning is excellent.
No way you rack up the stats he has at WBA and Everton without being an effective number 9, but he's not the finisher Kane is.

Whats kane got to do with anything ? I'm looking at one player not comparing him to somebody else...

Because nobody ever says he has a poor record vs top teams.

i don't know why you quoted me tho, kane has a poor record vs top teams..there i said it just to make you happy
100%, might need a couple of chances to score but his intelligence gets him at least 2-3 chances a game usually.
There does seem to be a perception that he’ll miss a few before he scores.
But he had a better chance conversion than Costa, Aguero and Sanchez last season. Only Kane was better.
Yes, he probably had his best year last season, but it does too often take him a more than one chance to bury the goal. He's also misses a lot of sitters. This season I recall 2-3 alone.

Also who the hell were you debating with that would be swayed by this
And who wins a debate by making a poll for all us plebs to vote on
According to @Ridikuluz Because of my opinion that Lukaku is a great goal scorer rather than a great finisher I should admit that I'm basing my "notion on preconceived bias, and acknowledge you are a byproduct of insidious racism that has festered itself into mainstream punditry?"
and I'm not looking to win a debate... I made the poll to see if others shared my opinion that he's a better goal scorer vs finisher, and to see of others share my opinion that there's clearly a difference between a great goal scorer and a great finisher.

Agreed. This is pretty much why I rate him as a goal scorer rather than a finisher.
And there’s nothing wrong with either imo. I don’t necessarily think one is better than the other, just simply a different type of player/forward.

That Squawka one was before the season finished, he finished the season with a 22.7% conversion rate.

Lukaku misses too many easy ones and until now has gone missing against good sides
