Building around Rui Costa

Hello friends,

Just to make it clear, before anything else, you should know that I suck at Fifa 18 :)
Especially when it comes to defending.

I made 2 teams, one with french players (Mbappé / Martial / Dembelé / Matuidi / Varanne etc...) and another based on bayern with good players on both sides and I still suck! There is no way around it for sure, no matter the quality of players.

So I decided to have fun instead and being portuguese I invested almost everything I got on Rui Costa (88) and decided to build around him. Him being of course the MOC in my 4-2-3-1 (2) formation.

I have left around 300K to build the rest of the team but not sure what to do. I definetly would like a few portuguese players but especially in defense there are no quality choices around, I think.

I would like to include maybe a few players like Nelson Semedo, Pereira (85), Quaresma or Silva, Nani or Bruma and maybe Pepe in defense despite his speed kind of worries me.

Within my budget I´m having some issues making a team that works for every other position in order for it to work (especially in the individual chemistry department as I don´t want players with vlaues around 3 or 4).

Could you please help me with some advices? maybe I´m missing something.

Forgot to say that I would also like to have Donarumma as a keeper. His stats are not the best in game but I believe, from what I read, he is a good keeper, despite not having tried him yet.

Thank you very much and cheers!

All full chem, looks like a great team imo. I suggest not going with Portuguese LM as that will limit serously limit your ST choices. Cant fit in Semedo, but Pereira looks very similar. You can use both Quaresma or Silva at RM on full chem. The team is around 290k without Rui.

2 Questions about your formation TheDreamer.

Why Marchisio and not Matuidi? Any particular reason?

Also do you need the perfect connection between Douglas and Higuain? I ask because Nani plays for Lazio so he would connect decently with higuain but maybe that won´t be enough for his individual chemistry.

    Thank you.

Why Marchisio? Its mostly my personal preference, I try to go for one more defensive CDM with M/H workrates and one H/H CDM, who acts a bit like a playmaker and helps with attacking. So for my style of play, I would choose Marchisio over Matuidi. Naingolan would be my first choice there, but he doesnt fit the budget.

Douglas Costa is there for chemistry reasons, so Higuain will be on full chemistry. I personally always go for full chemistry when possible, but many people on these forums play with players on 8 or 7 chemistry and claim there is no difference. I played over 300 matches last year with Aubameyang on 8 chem and was unable to tell any difference, but I did because having Auba on full chem would mean seriously downgrading my team on other positions.
