Harvey Elliott trending scored a wonder goal apparently ''He was sent right through scuffed his shot it went through the keeper hit the post and went in''
What a shocking performance that was from England. Only caught the last half hour or so but couldn’t for the life of me work out what was going on tactically.
11 men behind the ball yet we seemed to have no link at all between midfield and attack and our CMs seemed to want to play centre back. Should have been pinning them into their own box.
England game was awful, but I was expecting it to be awful given they haven't played together in almost a year and it's literally a Pre-Season game.
I can't say I don't care about England though when the World Cup wasn't so long ago and even the first Nations League was quite fun with games like Spain away. But the games this weekend just shouldn't be happening, it's just UEFA not wanting to give up on their vanity project when all of the other Federations aren't doing games for obvious reasons.
It's going to be a slog of a season if today is any indication. Saying we're not ready after three weeks, when all the other teams have had the same period is BS on Sabri's part. The football was dire, Barnsley didn't break a sweat and we just kept hoofing the ball back to them.
As for England, I suppose we have to have some kind of international football. UEFA make the majority of their money from tournaments and the Euros got (rightly) postponed till next year. The football was drab.
The worst thing about England though is the kit. Like some sort of 1998 throwback, but watching England back then was an enjoyable experience.

I didn't want International Football until next year simply because of the risk of football being stopped players were in their own team bubble now their mixing with players coming from different countries for some instances at least England had 1 fan Iceland behind the fence https://m.facebook.com/SkySports/videos/the-only-england-fan-in-iceland/615693655713093/
Linked with Szmodics
Would be stunned if it happened
Weird that we haven’t given him more of a chance. Reading between the lines it sounds as though he’s available for the right price.
I think it'll end up like last season where he goes on loan in January. It's obvious the lad wants to prove he's good enough but you don't usually hear this amount of interest in a player if he isn't available.

You’d think a champ team would take a punt on him
And if they don’t, the fact he suits your style of play more and the fact you had him last year means surely he would go back to you over us

I wouldn't have minded them doing the Play-Offs for the Euros this Autumn (like they're doing in October and November) that were meant to be done in March so everyone knows who's qualified way in advance if/when they have to move the Euros so it's all in one country and sorting out the logistics (hotels etc.) behind it.
But a Nations League, that to my knowledge isn't really for anything (do you get World Cup Play-Off places?) that's going to take up so much calendar space (I think England have 3 games in October) when it's already going to be a ridiculously congested season is just unnecessary.
Winning 4-3 against Shrewsbury is an alright start i guess, our first goal is one of the worst iv ever seen, the way we defended wont scare watford too much. Looking forward to the new season starting presume everyone will be tuning in to watch us on Friday night.
As far as England goes, the cricket was on Friday night and they were outstanding in the end, completely bonkers game and far better than the Chinese water torture that is watching the football team.

Buzzing for Antoine Semenyo scoring his first goal for us and really good to see a couple of academy boys getting their chances yesterday. Can't see that he's going to get too much first team action this season with Martin coming in, especially if we manage to tie Diedhiou down to a new deal, but will do him the world of good to be off the mark.
Meant to be signing Callum Johnson for 200k
Experienced at this level but only 23 and can cross a ball pretty happy with that
Must be highly rated too for 200k for a RB from Accrington in the last year of his deal

2-1 win away to Bolton for us. First away win since oct last year and first win in the cup since we beat Leeds in 2013/14. 2 youngsters played at the back for us and both looked good. Staunton who came through our academy look good at LCB and French who we got from non league last year got motm at RWB, he didnt look out of place seen as we signed him as a CB, got plenty of pace and a decent cross on him. Maybe we arnt in too big a need for a right back after all.

Is there anything else on tv I can watch instead?
Friday night telly isnt great tbf but im sure you'll manage to find something more enjoyable.
Remember them doing the same when they got us in the semi final all those years ago. Didnt end well for them that time.
Lincoln for us in the next round with the winner (most likely Lincoln) getting Liverpool. It would be the city type of thing to beat Lincoln and then have to play Liverpool behind closed doors.
Oh and the way some of our fans are going on you would think we had already beat Lincoln. Cant see that coming back to bite us much.

Haha when we drew Shrewsbury last year, drew for a replay, and then the winner got drawn against Liverpool we all knew what was going to happen
Can honestly see a few Prem teams who'll be in the scrap at the bottom not being too disappointed if they go out in the 2nd Round given the 3rd and 4th Rounds are the two midweeks after. Us being one of them.

Awful pen from Sterling too, got away with it.
Watched the England pen, watched the Iceland miss. That'll do me.
Same here tbh, I used to be fanatical as a kid/teen when England were on but now can barely muster the enthusiasm to tune in.

On that note...
“Mummy, why does everyone hate Villa?”
