I only watched the first half.
I find that formation very defensive, you need to be a patient and solid possession player to be able to create chances while using it. Also the striker gets very isolated in this formation so he needs to be big and strong so the ball sticks up front more, Messi is not suited for this role imo. Have you tried the 4411? Messi at CF is great and it provides more options going forward. Just my opinion, I'm not a great player myself so I could be wrong lol.

Haven't 4411 but i'm not a good defender so i think i might get too exposed using it. Usually only do well in a formation with CDM
I only watched the first 5 minutes, that being said.
That video pretty much sums up why I dislike the 4231's this year. They're way too defensive and "spread out in attack" for my liking. Imo, only good for defending a lead in a must win game or countering 4321 / 4312. And, well for possession, but there are other formations that are better for that as well that actually work in this years fifa.
As for the video, everytime you went forward on the wings you had to turn back and wait for the rest of your team, not ideal
Around the 3:50 mark you built up an attack with give and go in the middle and could've scored from the cross, but it does seem like hard work to get anything going.
If you want to stick with that formation, try upping shooting a bit in your CT's. This makes your midfield push higher up, and should help in creating chances.
If you want to play a more well balanced version of that formation, try 433(4).

Have you tried a narrow formation? I used wingers for most of the year and switched to a narrow formation for a change and have done betterwith it. You could use the 41212(2) and use Messi as a 7chem left striker.

Tried it for a bit but i felt like my play was very messy, a lot of 1-2s and losing the ball too often.
@MaTaDoRz thanks, it does feel like a lot of effort sometimes but i can't seem the formation that would be solid at the back, provide more options up front and give me some width

433-4 and well balanced?
I've never had problems with it, so, yes.
Agreed, with the right central midfielders it's not as wide open as I would have initially thought.

That's what it's all about, well that and your custom tactics. Thiago / Verratti, Gattuso / Bonaventura and Kante / Nainggolan make for some great CM pairings. Both on stay on edge of the box for cross and the other to stay back while attacking

All you need is 4-3-3(2). It is not as defensive as 4-2-3-1(2) and not that attacking as 4-3-3(4). Just very balanced.
For what it's worth I liked your playing style and your passing was really good at times - like just before you scored from the corner, that was a nice build up through the middle. No advice though as I'm Div 4 at best so don't think I can say much to help.
Only thing I'll say is that changing to 4312 from 4231(2) helped me and trying different camera angles like end to end and tele with 20 height and 5 zoom. I settled on these two camera angles and end to end for passing is great for me, totally different perspective, it's not for everyone but it has helped me.
Watched the whole thing. Yeah 4231 is a possession based slow build up keep a lead formation. You play quite gung no and counter attacking, either be more patient or switch to another formation. If you're bad a at defending switch to 41212 or a 5atb. But don't complain about not being able to attack and then have a defender first formstion...
Acuna has terrible work rates for a lm. Unless he's a favourite player of yours I'd change him. Same as pastore at cam. Get verrati at cdm if you can. Messi can work at St if you really want him to. Although cam is probably better.
get in behind on your St.
Cut inside get in behind on wide players.
rb and lb stay back
CDMs stay back. Both your CDMs are m/h tho. I normally go with one m/h and one h/m or two h/h.
See if these cts help, I'm currently using them.

I thought 433-4 was unbalanced, but I found out that with some extreme adjustments in CT's, it can become pretty well balanced !!

Instead of trying to be a funny guy you could also try to help him getting better since that is why he is asking..
SIF Acuna Pastore 90 Di Maria
TOTS Pablo Perez SBC DDR
Ansaldi MOV Barzagli SIF Bonucci IF Florenzi
IF Handa
CT were agression 50 and pressure 40, rest were in the 30s I think. DDR was set to stay back, wingers on get in behind, rest was default
