The dominance of Barca on this day is outstanding. Pretty much any day from August until May can have a "Barca dominated on this day"

Agree, it was a magnificent goal but I'm a bit of a Chelsea fan, and being able to see them fight and almost win at home against a 10 man Barca was so exciting.

After Terry missed his pk in the champions league final the previous year, I was certain we were going to advance to the final the following year. The best team advanced, simple as that. No shame ever losing to Barca.

None springs to mind about today.

But if you had made this thread in September, and we had slent the last 8 months reminiscing daily then we would be no doubt looking at thread of the year.

It'll be the first thread I make for Fifa 18. I'll even give you full credit. Then we will celebrate thread of the year and liverpool winning the premier league. And that will lead us in to the world cup, where we will watch England make it out of the group (hopefully)

Not sure if that goal happened on this day. Gonna have to go ahead and ask you to stick on topic in this off topic thread. Cheers m8.

Gotta let them hold on to the things that keep them going day to day.

I couldn't imagine supporting a club with that war chest and only having 1 major European title. But since I'm such a sound person, I try to be fair and let them have their 1 memory.

Anyone recall what they were doing on this day in 2009? I remember knowing deep down the best team would advance. I was at home with a friend, as he was playing Madden and I was glued to the tv.

The Pep celebration was the cherry on top of the icing on top of the ice cream cake. We may never get to see such a great moment in the history of the game. Winning 6 trophies that calendar year has made it sort of a norm for Barca. I'm just glad we have finally let lesser teams have a taste of glory.

This weekend seven years ago we played our last match at the old ground, scored a 90th minute winner vs Bournemouth, absolute scenes.

I skipped school (it was my senior year in high school), and watched the game with a few friends. :D

Nice man. Nothing like a last minute goal to get the result you need.

Couldn't agree more. When I saw the crowd collectively deflate 8 years ago today, it was just a tad bit better than when the madridiots deflated a few weeks ago. Those memories will never leave me. Sucks that my phone died before kickoff both times.
