4231 Help Please

Never used 4231 before, but really want to get bday villa and el shaa and make them work with the cards I already have. This is what im thinking, but would love advice on whether 4231 is any good, and who you would replace if anyone?

Looks good but I'd have Giovinco and Veratti on the left as they are left footed. Not sure about the fullbacks or Rugani as I haven't used them tbh.

both are right footed...

OP villa is incredible! wide cams need a bit of pace as does the CCAM
2 strong cdm's required.
this a possession formation so all defensive players need good passing stats.

Great to hear about villa. Have used the MVP for ages, cant wait to use the bday one. @PS-4-ADC you think pirlo will be wasted then at CCAM? Hes there for the link, but just thought he wud be the playmaker really

4231 is very good, but it requires patient build up. I can't imagine Pirlo being anything but awful at cam, tbh.

Was my concern tbh. I think i will just use villa on 8 chem and use another italian CAM. Sansone maybe?

i really don't think he'd be that great, your ccam needs to be the best of the 3 cams in my opinion....

4231 narrow is brilliant a great solid possession based formation.

Depending on how you use your full backs then Puccini may have some stamina issues.

Some like to have them on overlap others balances others to stay back.

Personally I play them balanced with both CDMA set to stay back but the left cdm is more a deep lying playmaker type.

I use

FBS balanced
Cdms stay back, cut passing lanes
Ccam get into box for cross
Widecams stay forward
St default

75/25 org
25/25/25 ff
40/60/35 cov

Some like the central can on free role others the wide cams on free role, all about finding what you prefer.

@Thamightyboro thanks alot appreciate the input. I think im defo guna give it a try this formation. Just torn with pirlo. Do younreckon he will work where he is? Hes mainly in for chem, but his passing is amazing. Plus my nostalgia makes me want him to work haha

Nope he wouldn't imo he's just too slow and the ccam is your second guy in the box.

He may work given a free role and pop the 2 wide cams to get into box to give the striker some support.

You could though swap him and parolo once in match, he would make a good deep lying playmaker and parolos work rates h/m and long shot are suited to the ccam position.

I would use Villa on a different setup and use IF Immobile in that squad on Hawk
