Messages when winning??

Play 3 games tonightand in 2 of them I've received friend requests then a message from the player I'm playing at the time when I'm like 3-0 up.
Is there some sort of glitch where they want you to read their message so they can pull it off?
I didn't press the PS button just incase

99% of the time this, sometimes very rarely someone will congratulate on nice goal etc, but then again not many nice goals going about really is there
