For Fifa your connection speeds can be as low as 100kbps for both download and upload as long as your ping is decent. The amount of data which is transferred during one online match is only about 4/5MB
That being said. The game will screw you anyway cause the servers are bad.
The term speed is greatly misused by ISPs. They talk about webpages opening fast or movies streaming in full HD quality without any pauses, and that's all well and good. The more bandwidth you have, the more data can be downloaded per second. Simple.
However, with gaming, as long as you have enough bandwidth (which for most games isn't much), it all comes down to latency. The amount of time it takes for data to get from one point to another. Because there is a constant back-and-forth of data.
There are a ton of variables in that, but in FIFA, usually distances between players has the biggest impact on latency. That's my experience.
how would you go about improving your ping rate then (on PS4 btw)?
if i was to use a public dns server such as googles. do you think this may help?
finding your best dns servers might help.
youd need to check namebench and run through then testing for a few days ata time...
Are there more options to do, for beter connections? if i change anything in my router, it feels like my connections is getting worse. like putting my ps4 in DMZ, or portforward.

your upload is normally 10% of you're download.

300Mbs on both.
ping is important or rather avoiding variable ping is...if its stable lag comp should be ok...unless thats blxed up.
upload is important..very.
a part of this is routing by your isp.
mine isnt what id expect.
my isp are not really one the ball but they are improving....as a result so is my gameplay.
