When Ronaldo and Messi retire...

It'll be a fresh start for ultimate team. I LOVE watching them play, it's one of my favorite things to do. But it'll be good for the sake of ultimate team. They'll get legend cards eventually, and we'll have a fresh wave of TOTY attackers instead of 2 of the 3 already cemented in year after year. Personally I think the best years of ultimate team is still yet to come, even tho FIFA 10,11,12 were awesome.

obviously real life matters a million times more and i'm sure most of you enjoy watching them play, but i'm curious to see if anyone else agrees.

PLEASE dont turn this into a Messi vs Ronaldo argument, theres no need for anymore arguing on this forum haha. I dont have a favorite between them I just like watching their brilliance whenever I get the chance.

anyone have this thought too?

Ronaldos card should already be showing signs of physical deterioration imo, but they seem to ignore that.

    This should.

Agility, Acceleration and Sprint speed should all be down by about 3/4.

i dont think itll be that easy, Neymar and Bale are not on Ronaldo and Messi's level theyre still a step or two down with everyone else imo. World class players but i dont think theyll be a lock year in year out like ronaldo and messi have been

Ronaldo nearing 32. Think he's pace will drop to high 80's in fifa 18?

yea he has but even with that he's been able to keep his eye for goal which shows his awareness, positioning, and mental aspect of the game which is very impressive. he's clearly lost some of his explosiveness tho in recent years

If you take in to account ney and bale will be in there prime when messi and ron retires, i think they will be ahead of everyone else every year. And neymar will score a lot more goals when messi is gone, same with bale when rons gone. Only my opinion

Doubt it if he still scores loads of goals I don't think they'll touch him. Much better for them to have a great Ronaldo card in the game than to start changing his place in the game.

His pace should already be into the 80s. His dribbling should be 80s too based off statistical evidence. Hes' been 91 on it for like 5 years now, despite his decline in ability to dribble.

Not hating on him, he's changed how he plays the game to fit his age but the game doesn't reflect this imo.

Yeah, mental stats are fine. Shooting the same generally. Just his pace, and dribbling that could do with a bit of a decrease.

yea i can see that happening, im not sure it will but I wouldnt be too surprised if it does. Keep in mind theres still rising stars with massive potential in griezz, martial, Dybala, and numerous others, itll be fun to watch who lives up to their potential and can reach the top

yea i agree, but i dont think EA will downgrade him that much as long as hes scoring like you said

Speed is something that doesn't just go away. Ronaldo has horrible form, his speed is something natural that he was born with. His mental reactions and agility will slow long before his speed will. He's 32 and still in his prime, not nearing or over 40.

Bolt is 30. Powell, Gay, and Gatlin are all 34. Those are the 4 fastest men in the world.
Randy Moss turns 40 in a month and says he can still run a 4.4 40yd.
Darrell Green ran a timed 4.4 to celebrate his 50th birthday.

Don't give a ❤️❤️❤️❤️ about this game when it comes to those two retiring. The thought of Leo Messi retiring makes me upset as he's the most enjoyable player I have ever seen. Gotta respect Ronaldo too. Hope they play as long as possible.

On that note what a goal by Messi there.

It should. You can visually see in close up clips that he can't do what he could at age 28, 29, 30. He grimaces sometimes and you can see that he wants to do something that he just can't do anymore. Still one hell of a player though. Might be the best ever 32 yr old to play the game.

It will be a blessing for FIFA when they retired, not for the game though.

I don't see Neymar and Bale being guaranteed successors, there are other players who can vie for spots.

True. It's hard to tell especially for one of the most gifted athlete to grace the field, but when father time hits you, it hits you

A Ronaldo legend card would probably be more expensive than Pele. Would still want it though.

    great stuff
It'll be a fresh start for ultimate team.
    anyone have this thought too?

YES! It will be so refreshing when that day comes. A lot of top players will be quite older by then too. 27-29 years of age is not young, especially for physical attacking players that get fouled a lot like Aguero, Bale, Suarez. Any of those elite players just below messi and ronaldo might be over the hump by the time they retire. It'll likely be a new wave of faces for the most part. Exciting indeed!

thats what i'm excited to see is the wave of new faces. You never like to see great players start to lose their flair or ability but it happens to everyone when they reach a certain point due to injuries, age, knocks, etc.

as an American i'm excited to see how well Pulisic develops, a few kids on my college team used to play academy ball with him until he moved over to Germany. I dont think he'll ever be on the ballon dor finalist list but he has potential, hopefully he continues to perform and get minutes like he has been.

    Ronaldo-Pele-Messi
