World Class has to have an objective definition.

    For me it's either:

    1. Could get into a World XI (or generously, a world squad of 23)
    2. Could play for any team in the world.

Therefore at any given time there are no more than two dozen world class players.

I find that it's one of those terms that's banded about far too often.

Whoever says Lampard, Rooney and Gerrard isnt world class must be the most stupid person ever. Look at Lampards scoring record, best midfielder in PL ever. If he isnt world class then no PL midfielder ever is worldclass.. Lampard>>every central premier league midfielder ever.

A legend to me has to be... World class. World class does not mean great players ala Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Totti, etc, I mean those that are just that step above, such as Suarez, Aguero, Ramos and ofc the Pele and Maradona of the current times Messi and Ronaldo...

No love lost for Liverpool, but Gerrard is a legend in every definition of the word. He was close to a world class player in his prime, and did absolutely insane things for Liverpool in the big moments (minus the slip). Totti even more so, and I don't think anyone for a second could argue that he wasn't world class in his prime. Both of them have a better claim than Aguero imo.

As for this current generation (not including those who already retired like Xavi), I'd say besides Messi, Iniesta, and Ronaldo obviously...

    Robben would be my #1

Thiago Silva is a good shout

    Dani Alves

    Neuer is a lock in

People may disagree but Marchisio for sure. Top three midfielder for me for the past three years. Loyal to his club. Defines being a legend, he's just lowkey about it. and I'm not even gay but damn he's a good looking dude

On that note, Modric as well.

I think Bale, Neymar, and Griezmann will all become legends, but still have ways to go before they're there.

No bias here or anything, but if Reus gets healthy and back to his 2013-14 form, then him. Definitely my dark horse

Why the insults? You have your opinion and I have mine.

Theres' plenty of people giving lists that I don't agree with but I don't go out of my way to insult them.

I think my definition of world class is just different to others. As I've mentioned before, the words world class are used way too much. Zidane, Pele, Maradona etc, these were world class players. Gerrard, Totti, Great classy players, world class, not for me.

Nope, I wouldn't :) I would say they were great players but not world class. World class is chucked around easily. Would you put any of them 3 up against Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Suarez? I wouldn't.

There is an argument to say that there is a class above world class and that is genius. I would say if that was the case then yes, Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard were world class, but not that class above that would in my opinion include - Pele, Maradona, Cryff, Eusabio, Messi, Zidane, Zico, Ronaldo, Ronaldo (fat), Best. *** Spelling is fubar because I've switched to Vodka...

Edit. The only world class player I've seen for England would have to be Gazza. If he'd just joined Man U at his pomp, Fergie would have controlled him and moulded him into one of the best ever.

To me he was the first Brazillian English player I've seen :).

Oh and this is coming from a Liverpool fan that acknowledges Fergie as being one of the best managers I've seen... Ack!
Comparing them to the best players in the world currently isn't fair because a lot of people live in a bubble. Also, all those player you named are attackers, and we all know attackers always get way more cred than everyone else. (that being said i do rate those 4 players above rooney/lamp/gerrard obv)

And I highly doubt Suarez is going to be in the same category as those "class above world class" players you mentioned once he retires

Well since you're a Liverpool fan, let's discuss Gerrard, why not? I'd definately group him in world class.

Probably one of the best players in the world in 2005
Big game player (ignoring his "Slippy G" moment)
One of the most capped players for England
Constantly leading an average Liverpool side through the 2000s while Rooney, Scholes constantly played with superstars (Gerrard had Diao, Scholes had Veron)
Consistently good for a decade (dropped off in his last 2 years though)

The only reason I could see why you'd see him as not world class is he's never held the Premier League trophy.

Looking forward to your response, please tag me when you do

Hi m8, I've mentioned many times why I don't classify him as world class. Everything you're said makes him a club legend beyond no doubt and he's my third best Liverpool player of all time behind John Barnes and Dalglish.

In the end, this post has made me realise we all have different opinions on what world class means just like ea has a different opinion on what makes a legend. Cash obviously is the main drive to them.

Maybe I'm being unfair, but winning the premiership is a possibility but making England a better team as well as going abroad and doing it in Spain / Italy / Germany etc not the MLS.

Now I know Messi hasn't done the abroad or international so it shows my opinion isn't a harden fast rule. But hey, once again it's about opinions.

NEVER in my life I have witnessed a football wonder such as Lionel Messi.
I can recollect countless times I have jumped from my chair with wonderment over how brilliant this guy is.

Messi, CR7, R9, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Buffon.
all else for me are debatable / you have at least 3 guys at every other position who deserve it as much as the next guy.
