An Explanation Pertaining As To Why

As all of you who were following my threads on the forums last year are aware, I conducted all of my threads on this forum in this last year via FM16 instead of FIFA 16, partially because it's easier for me to fit into my schedule and partially because I just couldn't get committed to any of the careers that I tried to do on FIFA this year. I am planning on doing a 'regular' CM this year, on FIFA 17, but right now I do not have the time to get started on a long-term save if I want it to be of the quality that I expect of myself. So therefore I am going to first do this save, my final public save on FM16 ever.

Those of you who were here last year may remember my thread that I started the year with, where I simulated until the year 2049-50 and took the Watford job starting from that year, winning promotion and subsequently surviving a relegation battle (though not managing to survive in the most literal sense :p ), as well as making the signing of one of my favourite ever FM players, the youngster Nigel Marsh, who was an absolute stud for me at just 21 after joining on the cheap from Arsenal's youth. You may also remember my next thread, where I took the fictional football club Harchester United and erased the biggest tragedy in fictional footballing history, letting the players narrowly avoid the fate that they encountered within their television show and instead pushing on to help them qualify for the 2007-08 Europa League on the final day. And then there's my four interactive games I hosted. So based on that you can tell I like to do experimental saves. And this is my biggest experiment yet.

An Explanation Pertaining As To What

What this save is is an experimental save where I have completely ceased the existence of the Premier League as we know it. No more Manchester United, no more Arsenal, no more Chelsea, no more Leicester City ( :'( ). It's still set up in a similar fashion, with twenty clubs vying for 17 retained Premier League spots, 7 European places, and one champion. But the clubs will all be based in each of the twenty largest cities in Great Britain, with each manager, coach, and player playing for the club that represents the city that they were born in. No foreign players or managers, just a battle between the biggest British cities. Who will come out on top? Will it be the mathematic favourtes, London? Can Rooney and Baines lead Liverpool to a title upset? Is Jamie Vardy going to be able to continue his magic from last year with Neil Warnock on the touchline instead of Ranieri? And most importantly, will Wakefield be able to win a game? The only way to find out is to watch this thread for future updates.

An Explanation Pertaining As To How

The way that I selected each squad of players and each coaching staff was based on a simple and objective standard instead of selecting based on an overall rating chosen by a game or according to my own feelings. I set a limit for a minimum and maximum of players per position each club could have and then I went by one thing that is 100% objective within football. Salary. Now this means that it is not based exclusively on merit, as many players can be both underpaid and overpaid, and there are selections that I personally disagree with, i.e. Emile Heskey being given the opportunity to score his annual goal for the Leicester team, but this was the best way I felt I could select players completely unbiased.

    Minigames

I have decided to involve three minigames in this thread so as to reach out to you guys, my readers, and keep you entertained and involved. Doing all of he interactive games for everyone last year was great fun and I'd like to keep everyone involved. Because of this, there are three different minigames that I will include as a part of this thread, as well as an overall leaderboard. I will create banners for the winners of each individual minigame and the top three of the overall leaderboard.

In posts below this one will be club overviews to help you with your selection for each of these minigames. Please sign up for one or more of them, it is always more fun with more participants. Signups for the minigames will be open until next Sunday, the 25th.

Thanks mate! It took quite a bit of time, but I'm really excited about it, so it's gonna be worth it.

I hope you get a chance to join at least one of the minigames. Deadline's over a week from now, so hopefully that gives you and other people enough time to sign up if you want to. :)

As a final part of the season preview, I'm also including the game's odds and predicted finishes and information about the stadiums, so as to help with the season standings predictor minigame.
