Both Sigi and Donald Trump asked me to join Tenerife indeed, but I decided not to join them. The truth is that I'm not really liking the idea behind Tenerife: covering an average 2nd-tier team with unfinished money isn't the right way to make it great. It's not that I don't like Donald Trump, he looks and sounds like a funny chap... It's just that he's just wrong in my opinion.
Yet, I'm packing my bags: I'm leaving too. I cannot tell you where I'm heading yet, but you'll find out pretty soon I suppose: I only have some paperwork left to do and then it will be official...
Gonna buy a beach towel, I'm going to need it...
I'll take a stab at Southampton in terms of destination. Idk why
Well, it's not Southampton and it's not in any of the British leagues...
Dear journal,
I just stepped off the train that brought me to my new home from the airport. Well, almost: I still have to walk for a couple of minutes and I'll finally reach the hotel... I've been through a long journey and I do feel tired now, but this city is alerady reviving me. I feel its atmosphere, its life: the city is absolutely lively even if it's not yet time for the movida. I can almost feel the heartbeat of it, even if probably it's just some dance music coming from one of the bars that I see on the road. It's a hot july evening and it's true that I've just made a long journey, but I feel regenerated already.
When I reach the hotel where the new board booked a room for me for "as long as you deem fit", these were their words, my jaw almost falls off:
Well, if the room is half as appealing as the exterior, I'll stay here for a long, long time. They really wanted to surprise me with special effects apparently, and it looks like they did a very good job at it.
But before checking in, it's time to give the world the good news: Kasey Keller is finally managing a team by his own, baby! And the team is...
Now it's time to leave my luggage in the room and to go for a walk, this city only asks to be explored.
See you soon dear journal, I wish you are as happy as I am.
New digs look pretty coolio. Buena suerte en España.
Thanks guys! It will surely be a fun and interesting experience.
I must admit I didn't like FIFA 15 much before finding a wonderful set of sliders (by Matt obviously, he's the expert along with Placebo) that made it enjoyable again... So far I'm really liking how it plays.
Oh, we didn't have the best possible start in the pre-season but let's face it, Manchester City were just too good for us. Luckily enough we played very convincingly against Ponferradina just a couple of days after:
Thanks! The win against Ponferradina has been really deserved. Pretty solid performance. I remembered well from the FIFA World days, El Zhar is a great player...
Oh, thanks! To be honest they're not really new... They're just an evolution of last year's ones (as I told you in the help thread, I really like the idea of the single screenshot from the match), and the idea of using the screenshot with a diagonal effect on it, well... It's borrowed from the thread I made last year. Glad you like them though!
I can't believe how close I got to foreseeing the World Cup champions... After topping group E and defeating Chile in the round of 16, France took on Colombia for the quarter final and defeated them 3-0. They then proceeded to defeat Brazil at extra time in the semifinal to get their ticket to the MAracana, where they got to meet a surprising England.
After going ahead, France struggled to keep their wingers under control and Rooney equalized late into the match.
No one scored in the extra time, and the match went to penalties...
Meanwhile, the pre-season goes on and it looks like we aren't really ready yet, despite surely being on the right track... A defeat against Hamburg, which are actually better than us was followed by a draw against Freiburg, a match we should really have won:
And if the so and so results weren't enough, we also lost our best CM:
Only one friendly to go in July dear journal: it's against Chievo and it shouldn't be that difficult... Hopefully we could end the month with a bang!
What a way to end for France, but hey, England won their second World Cup. Colombia made it to the quarter finals; Falcao must have shot better. Not a horrific start for Keller's new gig with the exception maybe of that injury. Rooting for his success.
Hasn't been the best preseason but still plenty of time to mold this team into what you want.
Yeah! I would've loved to have them play as I had them play in FIFA World, so either a 4-4-2 with a 'double volante' or a 4-2-3-1 (so again a system with two DMs) but it doesn't look like working that good in FIFA 15 unfortunately. 4-3-3 with a false nine does though, that's why I think our main man this season will be the right winger El Zhar.
Pretty average preseason but doesn't matter too much. Just need to know what's most likely going to work best before the season gets underway.
Apparently things are starting to go better as we managed to defeat Chievo with a pretty convincing match in which El Zhar has been key once again:
Meanwhile the transfer market is on, and there have already been a couple of great deals even if it's just late July. Diego Costa joining Chelsea is the bigger one for now:
That last result looks almost as good as the scoreboard. Lots of interesting things happening in the European transfer market, some almost feel like déjà vu.
That last result looks almost as good as the scoreboard. Lots of interesting things happening in the European transfer market, some almost feel like déjà vu.
Oh yeah, they surely do... I swear I've seen Diego Costa moving to Chelsea already before, but probably it's just me. I must stop going out drinking with DMC, it doesn't do any good to my health apparently.
Lopez is a pretty good signing for your old friend.
Yeah, I agree... And you haven't seen the rest of their squad! Samuel, Joaquín, Rubén Castro... Sigi is having a lot of fun with Donald's money apparently!
Aaaand... By the way, he's totally willing to show his new team off by the looks of it...
the friendlies have finally ended. All in all I must admit I'm pretty pleased by the outcome of this pre-season if I look at the big picture. We also played against teams that were definitely stronger than us and only in one case we got really humped, and it was the first match. My first match ever as the Levante manager. One should well be allowed a mistake, shouldn't he?
Then, mixed results lead up to the best moment of this pre-season: the match against my old friend Sigi's Tenerife. A hard-fought match, in which we showed we could take on stronger opponents if we concentrated enough:
After holding Sigi's Tenerife to a draw, a team featuring Walter Samuel, Diego López (f*!k you Sigi, they bought Navas to replace him!), Rubén Castro, Joaquín and last but not least our man Geoff Cameron as a right back, we flew to Britain to face two English teams.
So, dear journal, we're ready to go. Tomorrow there will be the grand presentation of the team at the Tenda Granota of Colón, and then we'll be facing Spain's best teams for the Liga BBVA.
Eager to see the season start. Don't know if you are good enough to challenge the top four but I think qualifying for Europe isn't out of the question.
The preseason showed the team can compete. What are the board's expectations for Keller? Please tell me it's not an undefeated season, Spanish owners tend to shoot for the moon.
Pretty strong preseason in the end. Now the real stuff starts
Thanks guys! Yeah, I was eager to start too... So without further ado, here are the August results!
Not the start I would've expected but hey, the match against Bilbao has been way better than the result woud suggest. Happy about the way we played, even if we wasted a lot of opportunities in front of the goal... 11 shots, 8 on target, but none of them has been really dangerous unfortunately.
The only goal we scored was a rebound by Vyntra following a corner for us after yet another wonderful save by their keeper.

I've received a massive amount of messages from friends in the past days, especially about Sigi's move to Tenerife: Sigi indeed signed for Tenerife and many friends wanted to know if I would join him, while many advised me not to do so: Both Sigi and Donald Trump asked me to join Tenerife indeed, but I decided not to join them. Thanks man! We'll soon also find out how he does against Sigi, which is even more interesting.

What a nice team... the real Valencian team unlike the Chotos... the damn club of the rich countrymen sold to Asian money.
A fan is here!

I agree it's a very interesting team to play with. And they're from a city I love, so it's a bonus...

Expectations?

Love those graphics! Good looking and to the point, nice one!
