Actually looked it up out of interest and our squad has 186 tackles between them. We simply don’t engage 1v1 because we play a high line and our players all mark space instead of opposing players.
Paolo Maldini: "If I have to make a tackle then I have already made a mistake."
Xabi Alonso - "I don't think tackling is a quality. It is... something you have to resort to, not a characteristic of your game. I can't get into my head that football development would educate tackling as a quality, something to learn, to teach, a characteristic of your play. How can that be a way of seeing the game? I just don't understand football in those terms. Tackling is a [last] resort, and you will need it, but it isn't a quality to aspire to, a definition. It's hard to change because it's so rooted in the English football culture, but I don't understand it."

Lmao
Tbf it’s a very good quality to have and AWB is brilliant at it but like I said if your a team who controls most games and plays a high line then you shouldn’t be tackling much because (if your good enough) you shouldn’t have to
Yeah TAA is widely considered the best RB in the league nowadays. Not heard much about AWB this season though
That’s cause Trent has a higher tackle % so the United fans have nothing to hold over TAA
TAA: 15 tackles, 80% success rate, 30/85 duels won (35%)
AWB: 54 tackles, 65% success rate, 79/122 duels won (65%)
Think the sheer volume of tackles may have something to do with that
Now do the same for crosses vs successful crosses
Trent should have vastly more, so in theory, AWB's percentage should be higher, right?
Wherefore art thou, Ahmer50x?
Don't think anyone has ever claimed AWB is a better crosser than TAA mate.
The claim was made that TAA tackles better and that is what I was addressing.
I don’t think anyone thought I was being serious.
Interestingly, and I’m not bashing AWB or anything but Trent actually beats him at just about every defensive stat bar tackles. He has a higher % but as you said 12/15 compared to 35/54. But he has more blocks, interceptions, clearances, headed clearances and made less fouls. Although I don’t want to look up how often they’re dribbled past and the app I’m using doesn’t show that.
Also. Trent has been disposed 5 times this season. That’s phenomenally low. Considering he’s made over 800 passes and has over 1000 touches.

Indeed, but you're saying that AWB attempting vastly more tackles than TAA brings his percentage down.
So, my friend, in theory, the same should apply for crosses?
TAA: 135 crosses, with a 23% success rate.
AWB: 25 crosses, with a 12% success rate.
I mean, small sample size validity can skew to either extreme so it could also be too low because he's attempted so few but I'm not actually trying to suggest that is the case.
We all know AWB is a distinctly average crosser. Young, Shaw, Williams, and Dalot are all better than him at it just at United.

So you admit he’s better? Thanks xox
In all seriousness Bernardo got a 1 game ban so missed the Chelsea game

Hence it’s a dead comparison

Thats a fact. There was no need for a long discussion. AWB is good but nowhere near TAA.
Sorted
It goes all the way down to his neck, ffs.
Seems Stering isnt a fan of cutting his fingernails.
what was this from??
Snake attack.
He's ill, nothing bad
Good to hear.
Even without VAR, we’re bossing it.
